Community Service Awards
Each year, BCBSM recognizes individuals and organizations that make a difference in the lives of seniors across Michigan. The awards are presented in June of each year. Nominations for this award can be submitted from February to May of each year.

The Claude Pepper Award honors two outstanding senior citizen advocates who have made a profound impact on older adults.

Pamela LaPan
Pamela LaPan of Temperance, Mich., retired in 2006 after 28 years of service at Monroe Senior Citizens Center and continues to volunteer her time at the center.
Working Category
Hariette Peterson
Harriette Peterson is a working parish nurse at Sacred Heart Church in Detroit who makes regular visits to homes, local hospitals and nursing and rehabilitation centers, where she checks on people who have trouble navigating and seeking medical care.
Diana C. Jones Award
The Diana C. Jones Award recognizes contributions made by an organization that provides older adults with health or social services to help them continue to live meaningful lives.

Dona accepted the Diana C. Jones Award on behalf of Otsego County.
Otsego received the award because of its exemplary volunteer programs and services it provides to promote the independence and well-being of older adults in Otsego County within Region 9 of Area Agency on Aging for Northeast Michigan. This program also recognizes their work with intergenerational programs.
