With a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Medicare Advantage plan, your coverage goes with you when you're shopping over the counter. Our over-the-counter allowance program, called Advantage Dollars, helps you save on eligible over-the-counter drugs, items and certain food products.
This benefit is available to all individual Medicare Advantage plan members.
You get an Advantage Dollars card preloaded with an allowance of $50 to $165 per quarter, depending on which Medicare Advantage plan you have.
Your card can be used to purchase eligible items such as:
* Food items will be available to purchase with the Advantage Dollars card for members who are diagnosed with specific medical conditions.
Unused amounts will roll into the next quarter but not the next calendar year.
You can search for eligible products at MyBenefitsCenter.com.
1. Visit a participating store.
2. Shop for approved over-the-counter items or healthy food items.
3. When checking out, swipe your Advantage Dollars card first to pay for all approved items. Then, if necessary, use a secondary form of payment for any remaining items you are purchasing.
Participating retailers include: Meijer, Walmart, Kroger, Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Family Dollar and Dollar General. To find a retailer near you, visit MyBenefitsCenter.com.
