Johnson re-elected as Blues board vice chairman; Canfield, Jankowski appointed as members

The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Board of Directors has re-elected Spencer Johnson of Okemos to his third year as board vice chairman. Johnson is president of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association.
The Blues board also includes two new health care provider representatives: Dr. Edward J. Canfield and Dr. Edward G. Jankowski.
Edward J. Canfield, D.O., a family physician in Sebewaing in Huron County, will represent medical professionals for a two-year term. He replaces John E. Bodell, D.O.
Edward G. Jankowski, M.D., an ear, nose and throat specialist in Grosse Pointe Woods, will represent medical professionals for a two-year term. He replaces Peter T. Muller, M.D.
The BCBSM board comprises 35 directors, as prescribed under Michigan Public Act 350 of 1980. Eight seats are filled by medical professionals, four by gubernatorial appointees and a nonvoting seat is filled by the company's chief executive officer. The remaining 22 seats are filled by Blues customers from large, medium and small groups, and individual subscribers.
