BCBSM honors the memory of Kevin Kelly
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan joined with leaders of the Michigan State Medical Society in honoring the memory of Kevin A. Kelly, immediate past executive director of MSMS. He died in December of 2008.
“Kevin was well-recognized as a health care leader in Michigan and for his immense contributions through the Michigan State Medical Society to advance major improvements to health care delivery in Michigan,” said Daniel J. Loepp, Blues president and CEO. “He was committed to the health and well-being of our community in so many ways and was involved with community and charitable groups that touched countless lives.”
“We are very saddened by this news. Everyone in the medical community knew Kevin for his boundless energy in supporting physician-related issues and tirelessly pursuing enhanced health care for our state,” said Thomas Simmer, M.D., Blues senior vice president and chief medical officer. “Our hearts go out to his family who showed such dedication and support during this past year.”
Kelly’s passing was the second blow to the Michigan health care community, as another leader, Ronald M. Davis, M.D., the immediate past president of the American Medical Association, passed away in November.
