Learn to eat for energy
It’s important that your body is getting the fuel it needs, even (and especially) while you try to lose weight. To keep up your energy and strength, be sure to eat nutritious foods and stay hydrated. This will help you beat fatigue, improve your mood and workout performance, and avoid overeating because you’re too hungry.
For lasting impact, complex carbohydrates, lean proteins and plenty of fluids will give your body the best boost. Complex carbs are found in whole-grain items, fruits, vegetables, leafy greens and legumes. Lean proteins include nuts, seeds, eggs and plain yogurt. On the other hand, minimize simple carbs and sugars. These give you a quick spike in blood sugar, followed by a drop, which can leave you tired. Alcohol also slows you down and worsens your sleep.
Make sure you record your team’s weight-loss progress (loss or gain) today at bcbsm.com/yourhealth. For the most accurate results, we recommend your team members weigh themselves on the same day and around the same time each week. If you have an issue submitting your weight, contact Catherine Passmore at WinByLosing@bcbsm.com.
