November – December 2020
In brief: Blue HPN, HITRUST certification, Collaborative Care Model
Ascension is network provider for Blue HPN in Southeast Michigan
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will offer a new health care plan called Blue High Performance Network℠, or Blue HPN℠. Starting in January 2021, Ascension will be the network provider for Blue HPN in Southeast Michigan.
Members who have the Blue HPN in Southeast Michigan can see certain Ascension health care providers for services and will only have to pay the plan’s out-of-pocket expenses. If they see a non-Ascension health care provider, they’ll be responsible for the costs of care (except for emergency services and urgent care). For more details, see the October and November Record articles.
Blue Cross receives HITRUST CSF Certification
In the October Record, we announced that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has received HITRUST CSF® Certification.* As part of our commitment to enhance our information security capabilities, Blue Cross and Blue Care Network worked for more than two years to obtain this certification.
It recognizes our steps to continue to align with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, while ensuring we have the right level of controls and safeguards to protect sensitive patient data and reduce complexity, risk and cost. This helps minimize any negative effects on our providers, customers and organization. For more details, see the October Record article.
Blue Cross offers incentives, training to expand use of Collaborative Care Model
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is expanding its use of the Collaborative Care Model, a method of integrating behavioral health within a primary care setting, with participating practices. This national model** is designed to better meet the needs of patients who have behavioral health conditions, such as anxiety and depression.
Our Physician Group Incentive Program has developed an incentive structure for learning about and using the model. PGIP has joined forces with Michigan Medicine and the Michigan Center for Clinical Systems Improvement to provide training, support and technical assistance to specific practices. Training began in August 2020 and offers a tailored approach to implementing and sustaining CoCM services. For more information, see the October Record article.
*HITRUST CSF Certification, announced in July 2020, was effective December 2019. The scope of the certification covers Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan’s Electronic Data Interchange system and infrastructure.
