Hospital Compare: 20 Michigan hospitals get top rating
Twenty Michigan hospitals received the top rating — 5 stars — in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ December 2020 Hospital Compare overall ratings.
Using CMS data, the Hospital Compare overall hospital rating uses measures across seven areas of quality to calculate a “star” rating — from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) — for hospitals nationwide. The seven areas of quality are:
- Mortality
- Safety of care
- Readmission
- Patient experience
- Effectiveness of care
- Timeliness of care
- Efficient use of medical imaging
