Value Partnerships celebrates 20 years of making health care work better for everyone Safer, higher-quality and cost-effective health care. For 20 years, those have been the hallmarks of Value Partnerships, a collection of clinical quality improvement programs among Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, physicians and hospitals across the state that make health care work better. Over 20 years, the program has grown to more than 20,000 physicians, 100 hospitals and 40 physician organizations across Michigan. Together, we continue to transform health care in Michigan, establishing the state as a national leader in building a high-performing, value-based, cost-effective health care system that benefits everyone, including health care providers, members and group customers. Many of the Value Partnerships programs and initiatives have been nationally and internationally recognized and serve as a model for other states that are working to create high-performing health care systems. And the cost savings have been tremendous, resulting in more than $2.2 billion in health care savings in the first 10 years. “These initiatives provide a unique structure that enables physicians and surgeons across the state to collect and share data, work together and develop best practices that shape how care is delivered in Michigan and beyond,” President and CEO Daniel J. Loepp said in a blog on MI Blues Perspectives.
