Value Partnerships report celebrates 20 years of achievements
The Value Partnerships 20 Years report has been posted on the Value Partnerships webpage on MI Blue Daily at bcbsm.mibluedaily.com/value-partnerships.
It provides highlights from 20 years of working for safer, higher-quality and cost-effective health care in Michigan. The achievements are many, some examples include:
- Our Value Partnerships program has led to $6.3 billion in health care costs avoided.
- Participation in Value Partnerships portfolio of initiatives includes approximately 20,000 physicians, 33 physician organizations and more than 100 hospitals.
- There are 1,591 primary care practices, including 4,677 health care providers, across Michigan with the Patient-Centered Medical Home designation.
- Blue Cross awarded 217 practices the inaugural Advanced Primary Care designation in 2024. APC designation recognizes PCMH practices that have built a significant Provider-Delivered Care Management program for their members and are also Collaborative Care designated for their integrated behavioral health efforts.
- Through the Physician Group Incentive Program, we made medication-assisted treatment available statewide to support those underserved patients who suffer from opioid use disorder, leading to a 285% increase of MAT providers across Michigan.
- The work of the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative, which is a Collaborative Quality Initiative, led to a 70% reduction in post-operative opioid prescribing.
- After bariatric surgery, 1,800 patients avoided readmission to the hospital because of the work of the Michigan Bariatric Surgery Collaborative.
