Covid-19 over-the-counter test kits
The Federal Employees Health Benefits plan from Blue Care Network will continue to include over-the-counter Covid-19 test kits as part of your FEHB benefit. Your plan includes up to eight over-the-counter Covid-19 test kits every 30 days for you and each member on your plan. A prescription copayment of $10 for test kits obtained at an in-network pharmacy will apply.
We won’t pay for test kits from an out-of-network pharmacy. You'll need to continue to present your BCN card, at the in-network pharmacy counter, and request to have your covered tests billed under your pharmacy coverage to avoid paying the full cost for test kits. If you’ve previously ordered test kits from the online store, this option is no longer available as of May 12, 2023.
To request and find Covid test kits, you can Find a Pharmacy through our site. Call the number on the back of your BCN member ID card or log in to your online member account and follow these steps:
- In your online member account: Go to My Coverage, then to the prescription section and select Find a Pharmacy.
- On the app: Go to My Coverage, then to the prescription section, select Find a Pharmacy and search for a participating pharmacy.
Contraceptive coverage
Contraceptive coverage is available at no cost to FEHB members. The contraceptive benefit includes at least one option in each of the HRSA-supported categories of contraception (as well as the screening, education, counseling, and follow-up care) as listed in the Health Resources and Services Administration site. Any contraceptive that is not already available without cost sharing on the formulary can be accessed through the contraceptive exceptions process:
- For contraceptive exception requests, fill out the form. Please note, for a 24-hour turnaround time, do not check the box “This is a standard request."
- Reimbursement for over-the-counter contraceptives can be submitted by calling Customer Service at 1-800-662-6667 or completing the Prescription drug reimbursement claim form.
If you have difficulty accessing contraceptive coverage or other reproductive health care you can contact contraception@opm.gov.
