Staying healthy is getting easier
Starting Jan. 1, 2025, our well-being program will be upgraded to Blue Cross Well-BeingSM, a more modern experience with more programs and resources to help you find ways to stay healthy.
Your current weight management and tobacco coaching programs available through your Healthy Blue Living plan will end at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2024, as Blue Care Network transitions to a new well-being program. Your new Blue Cross Well-BeingSM weight management and tobacco coaching programs will be available beginning Jan. 1, 2025. If you’re already enrolled in a current program, you should continue to participate through the end of this year.
Why 120-day requirements?
If your qualification form shows you use tobacco or you have a BMI of 30 or higher, you choose what's next to maintain your enhanced benefits and keep your costs down.

As a Healthy Blue Living member, you'll need to see your doctor and have them complete a qualification form within the first 90 days of your plan year.
If your qualification form shows your BMI is 30 or more, you'll need to join a weight management program to receive the enhanced benefit level. The Steps walking program is one option.
You'll need to begin the program within 120 days of your plan start date and need to average 5000 steps per day over a three-month period to receive the enhanced benefit level.
To select the Steps walking program:
- Log in to your member account.
- Select the Health Measure Follow Up box.
- Select Steps Walking Program.
Your device should arrive in five to seven business days. When you get your Fitbit, you should set it up right away. That's when your three months begin. Just follow the setup instructions included with the device.
Ensuring your device is properly synced to your account is important. It's how you'll get credit for your 5,000 daily steps to maintain the enhanced benefit level.
Here's how to sync your Fitbit with your account:
- Select Programs and Services.
- Select Wellness.
- Select Go to WebMD.
- Then choose Sync Devices and Apps.
- Scroll down to Fitbit and follow the Connect Account prompt to complete the process.
- Confirm your device is connected by going to your account on BCBSM.com.
- Select Programs and Services.
- Then select Wellness.
- Next, choose Go To WebMD .
- Then select Resources from the dropdown menu.
- Then choose Health Trackers.
Now it's time to walk.
Maintaining your enhanced benefits
In the first 120 days — if required:
- If your BMI is 30 or higher, enroll and start participating in a BCN-sponsored weight management program
- Weight management options include a Steps walking program or WW workshops
- If your qualification form shows you use tobacco, enroll and start participating in monthly coaching calls
- If required as part of your Tobacco Coaching, enroll and start participating in monthly Lifestyle Coaching calls for 12 months
